New Members Elected to The Foundation Board

COLUMBUS—The Foundation for Healthy Communities, welcomes new members to its Board of Directors. The Foundation supports hospital and community projects that emphasize prevention of health risks, injury and illness and promote healthy lifestyles. The new members were elected by the Ohio Hospital Association (OHA) at its February meeting in Columbus

Elected to the Foundation board for three-year terms beginning in 2004 are:

  • Kimberly H. Bordenkircher, Chief Executive Officer of Henry County Hospital in Napoleon;

  • Anthon C. Brooks, Special Assistant to the Director of The Ohio State University Medical Center in Columbus; and

  • Thomas E. Cecconi, President and CEO, Mercy Medical Center in Canton.

Current Foundation Board Officers:

  • Chair: Larry Unroe President, Marietta Memorial Hospital
  • Vice Chair: Patsy Matheny, Community Health Improvement, VHA.Inc.
  • Secretary/Treasurer: Jan Ruma, Director of Healthy Communities Foundation, Hospital Council of Northwest Ohio in Toledo
  • Immediate Past President: Philip Hearing, President and CEO, Southeastern Ohio Regional Medical Center, Cambridge

The Foundation would also like to thank retiring board members, James W. Isaacs, CEO of Mercer County Joint Township Community Hospital in Coldwater and Alan H. Channing, former President and CEO of St.Vincent Charity Hospital I Cleveland.

The Foundation for Healthy Communities was created and endowed by Ohio hospitals in 1994 to promote creative collaboration for better health. It encourages hospitals and health systems to move beyond traditional roles of healing illness and injury and develop promising methods for promoting healthy lifestyles.

The Foundation is sponsored by the Ohio Hospital Association, which represents more than 170 hospitals and 40 health systems with more than 200,000 employees throughout Ohio. OHA’s mission is to provide leadership. OHA works with its members in meeting the health care needs and improving health status of the communities they serve.
