Small and Rural Hospitals Benefit from Partnership

COLUMBUS - Twenty-six Ohio hospitals are receiving a total of nearly $681,000 through a partnership between the Ohio Hospital Association’s Foundation for Healthy Communities and the Ohio Department of Health (ODH). In cooperation with the State Office of Rural Health (SORH), the foundation is distributing 37 grants from federal sources to help communities and hospitals improve access to and quality of health care services and emergency medical services (EMS) in rural areas.

“This partnership between OHA’s foundation and the SORH is an excellent example of government and a statewide non-profit organization addressing issues of mutual concern,” said Lynne Ayres, director of the foundation. “The foundation routinely seeks available funding to support projects for hospital and heath status improvement in rural areas of Ohio. These federal funds will help these hospitals survive difficult times,” said Ayres.

Twenty hospitals that take part in the Critical Access Hospitals (CAH) Program will each be receiving $25,591 grants for quality improvement, network development, and EMS.
